Feature & Follow: Carmen @ Book Me

Q: Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you’ve read and loved?

A:  I was hugely not a fan of the cover for American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis.  It's just so cluttered and not exactly how I picture Patrick Bateman. However the book itself was a masterpiece. One of my favorites of all time.

All follows loved and appreciated!  I can't wait to meet everyone!

  2. Good choice (it's one of my favorites too), that is one of the few books that I actually preferred the movie version of the book cover. My post hasn't published yet, but my choice was A Confederacy of Dunces. I still don't like that book cover, though it's ranks as one of my favorite reads.

    1. Oh wow. That cover looks like an old creepy cartoon. Not a fan either! I haven't read it, but I've heard it's a great book.

  3. I didn't like the cover of this book, either. But I don't like covers with faces. I feel robbed of my right to visualize the character myself. Plus, that's not how I pictured him. I can't say I liked American Psycho, but it is a masterpiece of fiction. I think there are only a handful of modern writers who could pull off anything even close to the level of writing that's in this book.

    1. I don't mind covers with faces, but this is just sort of boring to me. Yeah...Ellis is a genius. I wish I knew how he did it!

  4. Hmm, I can see where you're coming from, the cover of American Psycho is definitely cluttered. I've heard so many good things about this book, so I'm glad to hear that you liked it. :) New follower.

    1. I've never known anyone to read it in school, sadly. It's a work of disturbed art.

    1. I definitely recommend reading it. It's darkly hysterical and multilayered in a way that the movie hints at but doesn't have enough time to develop fully.
