Flights of Fantasy
reading challenge
My goal for this challenge is 25 fantasy books!
Although, given my list, it's likely to be more around . . . a bit more than that. I'll add some here that I know I'll definitely read, but others are to-be-decided! I'm going to be strict and not include sci-fi or horror, things on the edge.
Keep up with my Challenges page to see where I'm at.
And don't forget to check out the hosts, Alexa Loves Books and Hello, Chelly! They're both amazing bloggers.

ReplyDeleteHaha, no no, I wish. I just plan to read it as soon as it's out.
DeleteGood challenge! I keep telling myself I'm only reading historical fiction books this year, but so far it's been 80% fantasy already....I need to give up and sign up for the challenge already. ;)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your goal!
Doo it! All the cool kids are. ;P Seriously, though, it's a nice justification for the crazy amounts I already read.
DeleteNot including Graceling on your list ;)?
ReplyDelete1. The Darkest Part of the Forest - Holly Black - Have we discussed this? I think it may be in our email thread.... which I will get to lol.
3. The Cure for Dreaming - Cat Winters - Have we discussed this? Because awesome.
Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard; Magonia - Maria Dahvana Headley -- I'm curious to know what you'll think of these. I had decent experiences... but I think you're a Neil Gaiman fan (at least judging by what's on this list :P), and so Magonia might end up working better for you?
Hellhole - Gina Damico - I heard this one is hilarious, along with her works. It's really unusual for very comedic YA but I think they're appreciated more for that.
Dreamstrider - Lindsay Smith -- soooooo curious about this. Her talent for detail in Sekret makes me think that in fantasy she'd be the boss.
The Sin Eater's Daughter - Melinda Salisbury - this is on my list too! Do you already have a copy or are you going to read it when the release date comes :)?
Snow Like Ashes - Sara Raasch -- I'm curious what you'll think of this. I think that you will like it along with other bloggers because it seems to have... fan overlap with Throne of Glass.
The Girl at Midnight - Melissa Grey -- on my list too!! Such similar taste in fantasy ;). If you like Daughter of Smoke and Bone, this sounds so much like it. I literally just penciled in on my calendar the launch event at Books of Wonder.
Shadow Scale - Rachel Hartman -- I have this too! From Netgalley. I pre-ordered of course but despite my no-more-ARCS!!!! resolution, I downloaded it from NG. lols I would read it anyway, so whatever. But if you want to read it together let me know...
An Ember in the Ashes - Sabaa Tahir - Ah, isn't this one everyone's list? Did you read the first chapter from MTV?
Princess of Thorns - Stacey Jay - i've heard really good things about this, though it's a total shame there won't be a sequel since the publisher fired her & then kickstarter & the drama happened
The Queen of the Tearling - Erika Johansen - let me know what you think!
Crimson Bound - Rosamund Hodge - same!
The Winner's Curse - Marie Rutkoski - same!
The Orphan Queen - Jodi Meadows -- I wanted to pencil this into my calendar too for Books of wonder since I LOOOOVED Incarnate (though still haven't gotten around to reading the sequels whoops), but then I'm not going to be here then :(. Have you read her other books?
Thief - Megan Whalen Turner -- heheeehehehe yaaaaaaaaaas. Though btw, the first book is not as good as the rest so pls don't be discouraged by it!
Illusions of Fate - Kiersten White -- fun & light!
Sabriel - Garth Nix -- if you want to read this one together, let me know!
A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J. Maas -- read the excerpt & am also sups excited!
Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater -- pfft "fantasy." This is PNR :P. You are cheating on this list, Ms. Listro! ;)
Evertrue - Brodi Ashton - *cough cough* *above*
These Broken Stars - Amie Kaufman - I guess this qualifies as more fantasy than science fiction.
WEEEEEEEEEE SO MANY BOOKS CHALLENGES ALWAYS SO MANY.
Damn, girl. Love this! Also, I didn't think re-reads counted! ;P But I did actually mean to add Bitterblue.
DeleteNot including Graceling on your list ;)?
1. The Darkest Part of the Forest - Holly Black - Um, we might have discussed it? Ha...we need a long discussion email thread and a short discussion email thread.
3. The Cure for Dreaming - Cat Winters - NO but we should because it was so amazing and I want to talk about it!
Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard; Magonia - Maria Dahvana Headley -- Me too. Magonia's gotten some pretty good credit. Didn't Gaiman even blurb it? Of course, I'm a woman of many tastes, so hopefully I like both!
Hellhole - Gina Damico - I haven't heard much. I have Croak and Scorch, so I should really read those too. I love dark comedy.
Dreamstrider - Lindsay Smith -- Dammit, I still haven't read Sekret. I'll probably end up reading this first. Too many boooooooks.
The Sin Eater's Daughter - Melinda Salisbury - I don't have a copy, sadly. Gotta wait for the release. Boooo.
Snow Like Ashes - Sara Raasch -- Did you not like it? I'm always curious when you say you're curious about what I'll think. :P
The Girl at Midnight - Melissa Grey -- Haha, because we're both awesome, duh. I'm super excited for this! GAH stop being so close to all the cool book events!
Shadow Scale - Rachel Hartman -- I do not have an ARC but I pre-ordered it from Amazon so it'd arrive day of. YES PLEASE I'd love to read it together!
An Ember in the Ashes - Sabaa Tahir - No, I didn't know it was available. I should do that.
Princess of Thorns - Stacey Jay - Wait, what? Okay, now I need to go check out what this drama situation is... (And they DIDN'T fire Kathleen Hale? Come on...)
The Queen of the Tearling - Erika Johansen - I will!
Crimson Bound - Rosamund Hodge - I also will! Although my guess based on her debut is "AMAZING."
The Winner's Curse - Marie Rutkoski - Will do! I seem to remember you liking this one.
The Orphan Queen - Jodi Meadows -- OMG READ THE SEQUELS. I adored that whole series. I can't believe it's not more talked about. I also pre-ordered this because I'm obsessed.
Thief - Megan Whalen Turner -- All for you. ;) I've been talking about this so long, finally want to actually read it. It's even on my Kindle. I promise to stay strong to the sequel.
Illusions of Fate - Kiersten White -- And pretty cover!
Sabriel - Garth Nix -- YAY! Yes. Love read-togethers. We should plan these.
A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J. Maas -- I haven't read the excerpt yet. Too hard not to freak out when it ends.
Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater -- Okay, okay, you're right. This is a stretch.
Evertrue - Brodi Ashton - Okay, I'll give you Shiver, but this one's about demon things and a Greek myth underworld and magical mazes, so I think it totally falls into fantasy. Werewolves = PNR. Greek myth = fantasy.
These Broken Stars - Amie Kaufman - I was going with Goodreads on this, so this could be totally wrong.
AND MORE TO COME!
