Cover Love: The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter

cover love

Don't forget to check out my review of Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley on Deadly Darlings today!

This was one of those books that I looked at specifically because of the cover (and then I noticed that Jennifer Niven blurbed it and spent a few minutes drooling).  The colors and sparkles are absolutely gorgeous, and it goes beyond the girl-cover to create something that has the same energy and tone as the book.  Something sort of dark, chaotic, whirlwind.  It also evokes the image of drowning without doing something super obvious like sticking a chick in water.  So freaking pretty.

with every book cover comes a music cover

I love every cover Marilyn Manson has ever done. He just has this way of picking songs you wouldn't expect and creepifying them in the most delightful way. And given that Carly Simon is all over the news for admitting that one of the verses is about Warren Beatty, I thought this was an appropriate choice. Plus apparently Johnny Depp is on it!?
