c.j.'s selections ten ten ten
|
one |
 | The Steep and Thorny Way - Cat Winters
Do you like badass women who are smart and feisty and who go around solving murders and standing up for equality? Um, obviously you do. |
two |
 |
You Were Here - Cori McCarthy
This unexpected gem of a novel-graphic novel-art poetry piece made me feel ALL the feelings and fall in love with a guy named Mik and oh yeah did I mention feels? |
three |
| The Raven Boys - Maggie Stiefvater
Yes, I finally read it and it was amazing and Gansey is my soulmate and if he actually dies I'm going to actually die and seriously Adam is not as cool as Gansey. Also Welsh legends and the occult and hilarity! |
four |
|
Morning Star - Pierce Brown
Just as amazing as Red Rising, with lots of sci-fi goodness and extra bloodshed. And Sevro, my lovely swearing psychopathic friend.
|
five |
| The Girl From Everywhere - Heidi Heilig
Time travel that's actually done well! And hot snarky boys with all the sarcastic flirting. And a super smart female lead with mad edge.
|
six |
 | Sword and Verse - Kathy MacMillan
Once you get past the kind of quick-but-not-insta-love it's beautiful and magical and all about language which is so so cool! |
seven |
 | Winter - Marissa Meyer
I could just say Jacin because you know I love my moody prickly snarktastic guys, but also there are four kickass women and loads of sci-fi fairy tale danger and I don't want it to be over!
|
eight |
 | Ensnared - A.G. Howard
Morpheus, god of sexy snarkyness, meets Alyssa, half-crazy netherling badass. Alice in Wonderland on acid (like, extra acid). Amazing series end even though WHY is it over!? |
nine |
 | The Start of Me and You - Emery Lord
Max. Who is nerdy and super snarky and clearly I have a type. Swoony but clean high school romance! Friendship! With actual friends! |
ten |
 | Illuminae - Amie Kaufman
Pages and pages full of word art and video transcripts and instant messages and a psychopathic AI unit that sort of has a soft spot. Evil deadly joy! |
Winter and The Start of Me and You were on my list too. I am planning on reading the Raven Cycle later this year. I'm glad to hear that you liked The Raven Boys.

BLLB made my list this week too :D The Raven King might just destroy us all and I'm thinking we'll need some sort of support group after LOL! Winter was brilliant too!! ReplyDeleteI really need to get more than half of these! I read The Start of Me and You and loved it! Just heard about You Were Here today and it sounds so interesting and unique. I read The Raven Boys in February but unfortunately DNF'd it. There was just something about it that I couldn't connect to. May try to pick it up again soon!
ReplyDeleteI loved The Girl from Everywhere and Winter too!! I need to read Illuminae! It sounds great!
