 | Rowan
Throne of Glass series - Sarah J. Maas
I don't not like him, but I also don't worship him and yearn to have his white-haired babies like the rest of the known universe. He's just okay. Not that exciting. Broody elf-man. Oooh-kay. |

Eleanor
Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell
Everyone gushes about this oh-so-amazing love story. I just found Eleanor (and Park, for that matter) kind of annoying. |
three |
| Po
Graceling - Kristen Cashore
First of all, I can't read about him without imagining a Tellytubby. Second, he's sort of kind of generic and it makes me yawny. |
four |
|
The Darkling
Shadow & Bone - Leigh Bardugo
Okay, so actually I do like him a lot, but I don't love him with a weird creepy romantic obsession that some people have. Like, he's evil! He's clearly not Alina-boyfriend material!
|
five |
| Rachelle
Crimson Bound - Rosamunde Hodge
I loved Nyx and Cruel Beauty desperately, but Rachelle struck me as a sort of generic spunky-quirky firebrand heroine. Almost Mary Sueish. Blech.
|
six |
 | Tamlin
A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J. Maas
Clearly I don't ship the guys everyone else does. I don't mind Tamlin, I just don't find him that swoony. Lucien, with his snark and sharp tongue, is more my speed. |
seven |
 | Peeta
The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
OMG HE'S SO BORING. I AM BORED JUST THINKING ABOUT HOW BORING HE IS. HE IS MADE OF BREAD.
|
eight |
 | Juliette
Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi
I really wanted to like her, but I just found her kind of thin. She feels too much like a skin to slip into. |
You're not alone on Peeta. When I watched the movie, I was like: why do people love this wimpy kid? When I finally read the book, I was like: really... why?.. I just don't understand..
ReplyDeleteczai @ the Blacksheep Project
I actually thought he had more personality in the movie than in the book. xD
DeleteHaha. Peeta. I agree! How is this series even a love triangle?
ReplyDeleteI knooooow! Gale is so swoony!
DeleteDUDE. I WILL STAND WITH YOU ON TAMLIN. I actually am 100% clueless to why everyone loves him so much...he...wut even was the point of his face??? (Okay, he didn't HAVE a face. But that's still not enough to interest me. ahem.) Lucien was FAR more interesting and even Rhysand was interesting. But then I'm not a real fan of that book, hehe, SO I SHALL SHUSH.
ReplyDeleteI also don't understand the interest with the Darkling. I didn't even think he was that evil??
Also nopity no to Rowan. I actually despise him, not because he's HIM, but because he replaced Chaol and I love Chaol. XD
CAITS UNITED! (Hahaha you're exactly right!) Rhysand was cool too. But I think I didn't LOOOOVE ACOTAR as much as TOG because Tamlin bored me. I mean, the Darkling was pretty damn evil. But def not good boyfriend material?
DeleteHa I'm a Dorian girl myself but Rowaelin just seems contrived to me. As I think I ranted endlessly in the comments on your QoS review...
I completely agree re: Po -- totally lackluster compared to Katsa. I wasn't a huge fan of that book, generally and he didn't help.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't either. I think partly because of him, and partly for reasons I don't quite understand.
DeleteI so don't understand this new 'love triangle' thing where the other love interest is the villain? Why would the Darkling be a good boyfriend???
ReplyDeleteYeah me neither. I get the anti-hero angle but the Darkling pretty much can offer jewelry, slaves, and lots of dead people, which doesn't seem super romantic.
