Cover Love: A Line in the Dark by Malinda Lo

cover love

I'm not even sure how to express my deep and insidious love for this cover without a lot of strangled screamy sounds and a bunch of flailing.  THIS COVER IS BASICALLY MY AESTHETIC, Y'ALL.  If there was a book cover version of C.J., it would be this freaking cover.  (Except the author name would be blue because that would fit way better with the corpse-aesthetic here but whatever, everyone's allowed one flaw.)  Plus, it's a masterpiece of photo manipulation.  One striking image, staring out from the center.  That spatter to draw your eye down.  And the words!  They fit so seamlessly into the hand, the watercolor effect giving it an extra grungy dead-veins look.  Everything about it is so clean and self-contained and stark.  I kid you not when I say I'd hang this as a poster on my wall.

  1. ohmygosh, I've never seen this book before but THAT COVER!!! also the the type is beautiful! but gotta agree that the author name's color doesn't fit. ohwell.

  2. I love the cover! I've never see/hear about this book before, but that cover is also my aesthetic. I can't wait to read it!
